Our pre-K through 12 students can receive a superior education in many venues, including public schools, private schools and home schools. But now, state budget allotments (per student attendance day) go only to public schools. Minorities and students in rural areas are among the hardest hit by this restriction on our public education system. We must:
- Recognize that the goal is to provide superior education to every student.
- Distribute available state and ISD funds for education in a manner such that they follow the student to any school, whether public, private or home schools, through tuition reimbursement, tax credits or tax exemptions.
- Work to increase educational opportunities for students who have fallen behind.
- Expand vocational training opportunities through partnerships with employers and other hands-on learning experiences.
